After phenomenal success with the PSP, sales figures of 25 million world-wide in 2006 alone, Sony has confirmed it will be dropping the price of the handheld console (initially in the US)
A saving of roughly $30 (£15) can be expected bringing the average price down to a more accessible $170 (£86) from about $200 (£101)
Sony hopes the move, timed to coincide with the PSP’s two year anniversary, will open up a previously untapped level of consumers that may have been previously put off by the price, though the cheaper competition, ie. the Nintendo Ds Lite could be another reason for the price cut.
